U4GM on Tatis's Hitting in MLB The Show 26
#1
Fernando Tatis Jr. can look like an easy fit until you compare the actual Diamond Dynasty versions. The 96 Spotlight Red Diamond is a shortstop first, with center and right field available as secondary spots; the Live Series card is the one to check for second base. If you're planning your in-game spending, keep MLB 26 stubs for choices that suit your roster rather than buying around an assumed position. The Spotlight reward takes 15 of 18 eligible May Spotlight items.

Check the card before setting your lineup

The Spotlight card hits and throws right-handed. Its key numbers are 97 contact and 100 power against right-handers, plus 91 contact and 85 power against lefties. Discipline is 105, clutch is 100, and both speed and stealing are 90. There's a catch on defense: fielding is 78 and arm accuracy is 60, despite 99 arm strength. The World Baseball Classic and Live Series versions are separate cards, so check each card's own positions and attributes. Live Series ratings change, too; the October 2, 2026 update moved Tatis from 88 to 91. Use the rating shown in your game.

Work through the May collection

Open Diamond Dynasty, choose Collections, and find May Retro Lightning. Check its eligible-items list against the May Spotlight cards you already own. You need 15 of 18, which means three eligible items can be left out. Missing cards may come from available mode rewards, program rewards, packs, or the Community Marketplace, but confirm each item appears on the collection list before counting on it. The milestones arrive at five items for a May Spotlight Player Pack, ten for Cristopher Sánchez, and fifteen for Tatis. Collected items become unsellable, so look over each card before confirming. Check the live menu for current ways to earn any missing items.

Make his bat and speed count

The Spotlight card's power against right-handed pitching and 100 clutch make it useful with runners aboard. Bat him second if you want more chances to use his speed, or third if you'd rather have him hit with traffic on the bases. His power against lefties is still solid, but consider the opposing pitcher and the rest of your lineup before choosing his spot. At the plate, track the pitch and move the PCI instead of swinging at anything that looks hittable. His Extreme Pull tendency is no reason to chase pitches outside the zone. Start with a normal swing; save a Power Swing for a count and pitch you can handle. Captain boosts depend on lineup criteria, so check the displayed boost before moving players around.

Protect the defensive fit

Keep the Spotlight card at shortstop, center field, or right field; second base is not among its listed positions. Button Accuracy also makes arm accuracy relevant: the green throwing region changes with the throw distance and the fielder's accuracy. Set your target deliberately rather than trusting arm strength alone. Before a game, check the card series, eligible position, and collection counter. If you're considering whether to buy MLB 26 stubs for an in-game purchase, first decide what your roster actually needs; currency won't change Tatis's position eligibility or defensive ratings.
